Demining Program

THE UKRAINE FUND / EST. 2022

According to the CSCE, Russian invading forces have left more than 160,000 square kilometers of Ukraine’s territory contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordnance. In one day in Kherson alone, demining teams have removed nearly 1,500 explosives, some planted in children’s toys, people’s home and even the bodies of people killed during the invasion. Victims are often children and farmers who trigger mines when playing on playgrounds or accessing fields and rural roads. The Ukrainian registered nonprofit Soloma Cats and licensed demining teams work together to clear mines. The Humanity Funds supports training and demining kits deployed throughout Ukraine, particularly in and around Kherson and Kharkiv.
